On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, The ED of Betso Charity Foundation, conducted an unplanned visit to Dunderè Community in Yola South, Adamawa State. The visit aimed to assess the functionality and impact of the handpump borehole constructed by the Foundation. During her visit, Dr. Betso met with community leaders and members, including the local head (Mai Anguwa), to discuss their experiences and any challenges related to the borehole.
The community confirmed that the borehole is functioning effectively, providing a reliable and clean water supply. This project has significantly improved the quality of life for residents, reducing the time and effort required to collect water from distant sources, and enabling children and women to engage in other essential activities such as education and household chores.
A maintenance committee established by the community leadership ensures the borehole’s upkeep, demonstrating local ownership and active management. Dr. Betso assured the community of the Foundation’s ongoing support to ensure the project’s sustainability.
In 2020, Betso Charity Foundation addressed a critical need in the Wuro Kuturu community of Adamawa State by constructing a borehole, providing reliable access to clean water. Prior to this intervention, the community faced significant hardship due to the lack of accessible and potable water, which adversely affected their health and wellbeing. The borehole project has since transformed the daily lives of the residents, reducing waterborne diseases and enhancing overall quality of life. This initiative underscores the foundation’s commitment to improving living conditions and promoting sustainable development within underserved communities.
